Where to collect your post and parcels on campus

Posted 22 hours ago

Get your mail delivered to our Amazon and City lockers!

Getting mail and parcels delivered while you're living in halls is simple, but it's essential to follow the correct steps to ensure your post doesn't go missing.

Here's everything you need to know:

✍️ Addressing your post

Before ordering an item, you need to make sure to address the item correctly.

[Full name, student ID number]

Freemen's Common Reception

161 Welford Road

Leicester

LE2 6BF

[Full name, student ID number]

John Foster Reception

15 Manor Road

Leicester

LE2 2LG

  • Always use your full name (not a nickname) so staff can find you on the system.
  • To make things even easier, include your room details and/or student ID number after your name
  • If the address is written incorrectly, your parcel could be left outside a building or misdelivered.

Once your post has been processed, you'll get an email to your student account. The subject line will include a code, formatted like this:

'POST S0000' or 'POST XL0000'

Bring this code with you when you collect your item. Make sure you provide this full code, as the letter at the start tells staff where your item is stored.

📦 The City Lockers

Any parcel's which are not selected to be delivered to the Amazon Lockers in the Multi-storey car park will be sent directly to Nixon Court instead of the Freemen's Common reception.

(33 Putney Road, Leicester, LE2 7TG)

In the City accommodation, any parcels will be delivered to the Nixon Court Post Lockers room, where they will be placed into a storage locker by the delivery driver.

Then, every 2 days, a member of our team will log the parcels and place them into one of our university lockers, instead of manually processing them at Freemen's reception.

You will get an email from Koloni with a unique pickup code when your parcel is ready to be collected. Remember to check your junk mail for the access code in case it is sent there.
  • Go to Nixon Court Post Lockers.
  • Use the touchpad in the centre of the lockers, select "Pick up", and enter your unique code.
  • The locker will open, and you can take your parcel. Make sure to close the locker securely afterwards.

No, you don't need to use the Nixon Court Post Lockers address (Putney Road). You should still use your full room address.

To avoid delays, please make sure you order using the following details:

  • Your full name
  • Your full address
  • Your student ID number

You must collect your parcel(s) within 72 hours of receiving the email that your parcel is ready to collect. If you don't, there may be delays in picking up your parcel due to the parcel having to be transferred and stored elsewhere:

  • First delay: Up to 48 more hours
  • Second delay: Up to 120 hours (5 days) for missed collection

To avoid this, please collect your parcel as soon as possible after receiving the email.
If you know you will be away for longer than the advised collection time, we suggest that you avoid ordering a parcel until you know you are able to collect it as soon as possible.

If you need to collect your Amazon parcel immediately after the delivery driver has dropped it off, we suggest using the Amazon lockers in the Freemen's Common car park to avoid waiting up to 2 days for the parcel to be logged into a university locker by our member of staff.

📦 Amazon Lockers

Amazon Lockers are self-service kiosks where you can receive or return Amazon parcels. You must get Amazon parcels delivered to the Amazon lockers, as they will no longer be accepted by receptions from September.

The City

Our Amazon locker, the Staircase, is located in Freemen's Common multi-storey car park.

To add this locker to your address book, search for it on Amazon using 'Freemen's Common', it should be the first one to appear.

The Village

Our Amazon locker, Papaya, is located in The Village Reception on the lower ground floor.

To add this locker to your address book, simply click 'add Papaya' and sign in to Amazon. It will then automatically be added.

Deliveries & Returns

Select the Locker from your address book at checkout to have parcels delivered to the locker, as you would normally do for your home address. Once the parcel is delivered to the locker, enter the pickup code to retrieve your package.

You can even use Amazon Lockers to return your parcel - just select 'return from this address' as part of the returns process and drop the parcel off.

📩 Where to pick up your mail

Knowing where to collect your parcels and letters can save you a lot of time and unnecessary stress.

The City

If you live in City halls, your post follows a digital system:

  • Letters: Delivered directly to reception.
  • Parcels: Sent to the Nixon Court Post Lockers or reception.

(Lockers) You'll receive an email once your parcel has been delivered with a unique collection code. Upon collection, enter your code at the locker touchpad.

The Village

If you live in the Oadby Student Village halls, your items will go to the central hub:

  • Letters & Parcels: Delivered straight to John Foster's reception.

You'll receive an email with a code (see above). You'll need to bring your ID (student ID or other) to reception to pick it up. Lastly, sign for your parcel to confirm you have retrieved it before leaving.

🛒 Food deliveries

Please note that receptions cannot accept food deliveries. This includes takeaway orders and grocery deliveries. These must be addressed directly to your accommodation, and you'll need to be in to receive them yourself, as receptions don't have food storage facilities.
