Make new friends, learn new skills and have some fun!

With the help of Residence Life, you’ll have loads of support to settle in, stay focused and make friends.

ResLife's job is about making life at university easier, helping you make new friends, and to make sure you have as fun as you can. Experience new things, meet new people and learn new skills. The programme is available to all students who live in a university owned accommodation. You can even give us your feedback and ask us to add something to our events programme.

Want to know more about ResLife and how to get involved? Let's dive straight in to the good stuff :-)

Events

Every year, the Residence Life teams puts on events and other fun stuff to bring people together. Events such as food socials, cultural celebrations, art classes, fitness classes, movie nights… and they are all are completely free! Events take place at both the city and the village so there's always something close to you.

Day trips are also a favourite on the calendar. Last year we visited Oxford, Liverpool, Alton Towers, Heights of Abraham, Birmingham Sea Life centre, Van Gough Experience and Nottingham Christmas Market. There is a slight charge for residents to attend our day trips, but it is a bargain price in comparison to what you would pay if you travelled independently! Look for the booking link details on our calendars for each day trip (you can find them on your block notice boards) or look via our webpage: Residence Life :: University of Leicester

Residential Advisors

For many, moving to university is their first time living away from home. The realities and complexities of student living can be overwhelming, that's where our RAs come in. They are current students who have lived in student accommodation, so they know exactly what you're going through and are there to support you. After you move in, they do regular wellbeing visits to your flat or studio to check that everyone is okay and to help you with any queries you might have. Look out for their green uniform!

When you need us, our Residential Advisors and a trained support network of full time staff are here to help you navigate this scary, exciting time. Our RAs are available across the residences (mostly at reception and the accommodation social areas) and you can say hello and have a chat about anything you'd like. They work 17.00-22.00 on weekdays and 10.00-15.00 at weekends. Alternatively, our dedicated full time accommodation team are available 24/7 at our accommodation receptions.

Maintenance

If you’ve any maintenance issues (e.g. a light has stopped working) you don't have to go out and replace the bulb yourself. Just inform our team via our quick and easy online maintenance form. Urgent or emergency issues should be raised with your site reception or security. For further information and to access the form, please visit: Residence Life :: University of Leicester

A Place to Come Together

Whichever site you live at, there are loads of options for meeting new friends, hanging out, socialising, studying and more!

Meet for a drink at FC Bar & Kitchen, hang out in The Village Hub, hire table tennis paddles from your reception team (or pool cues), sunbathe on the lawn (there's lots of places to do this at the Village!) or go study in the Sir Bob Burgess building at city. Watch a movie in the cinema rooms on both sites, play pool, or practise music together in our music rooms - the options are endless. You'll just need your student ID to hire these spaces or equipment. Speak to your reception team at your accommodation for more details.

Living in our accommodation means being part of a wider community of students from all over the world, where you can make friends, learn and grow.

So make the most out of your time in Leicester.
