First of all, let's set the vibe! 🍂
The leaves are browning, and the weather's a bit chillier, so it's time to grab a coffee and go for a walk. But where should you go?
Leicester offers many beautiful walking routes to enjoy the crisp air and take a break from studying.
New Walk 🍁
A historic, tree-lined route that directly connects the University campus and Victoria Park right into the city centre! It's packed with conkers and hardwood trees, making it a quick, 15-minute leaf-crunching stroll between lectures.
Abbey Park 🦔
Featuring a river, a boating lake, and 12th-century ruins, Abbey Park is a great spot to wander as the seasons change. About a 15-20 minute walk from the city centre, it has the ultimate autumn vibe, swans, and historic spots like Cavendish House.
Castle Gardens 🏰
This quaint, quiet park sits right beside the Grand Union Canal and medieval castle motte. With plenty of benches and scenic views, it's a great option for a group stroll.
University of Leicester Botanic Garden 🪴
Situated on the edge of Oadby, these 16 acres of Edwardian grounds feature horse chestnuts, oaks, giant redwoods and Japanese acres that glow in autumn!
Aylestone Meadows Local Nature Reserve 🐿️
Leicester's largest nature reserve offers peaceful riverside paths along the River Soar and a variety of wildlife, making it the perfect spot for a solo walk to reconnect with nature.
Bradgate Park 🦌
While it's a little further out than other walks, this massive historic park features ancient oaks, rock formations and herds of wild deer. It's definitely a must-see in the colder seasons!
Don't just stop there, settle into student life by exploring more of what Leicester has to offer!
