What is Clearing?

Clearing is a UCAS service that matches students without university places to courses that still have vacancies. It's available to:

  • Students who didn't receive any offers.
  • Students who declined all their offers.
  • Students who didn't meet the conditions of their offers.
  • Students who have changed their minds about their course or university.
  • Students who haven't applied yet.

How to apply through Clearing

  1. Check course availability: Visit the University of Leicester Clearing Course Finder to see which courses are available.
  2. Contact the University: Call the Clearing hotline at 0116 373 6000 or send a message via WhatsApp. The team is available Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
  3. Prepare your information: Have your UCAS ID, A-level (or equivalent) results, and any other relevant qualifications ready when you contact the university.
  4. Receive a verbal offer: If the university is interested in your application, they will make a verbal offer during the call.
  5. Accept the offer: If you receive a verbal offer, log in to your UCAS Hub and add Leicester as your Clearing choice. You will then receive a formal offer by email.

Accommodation

If you're applying through Clearing and need accommodation, apply as soon as possible. The University of Leicester guarantees a place in university-managed accommodation if you apply before 1 September 2025.
