Skip the hangover!

Temperatures are going up, which means summer drinks are here!! Why not try out these tasty mocktails to get you in the summer mood and have some alcohol-free fun?

Watermelon Lemonade 🍉

Ingredients:

  • 1 large or 2 small watermelons
  • 250ml lemon juice
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 1L bottle of soda water
  • 1 lime
  • A small handful of mint
  • crushed ice

Method:

  1. Cut off the top of the watermelon and hollow it out using a large spoon (fish out any pips whilst doing this).
  2. Mash the watermelon through a sieve into a bowl, then put it in a blender with lemon juice and sugar.
  3. Whizz into a purée, then stir in the soda water
  4. Fill the hollowed-out watermelon with ice and fill it with the lemonade mixture. Serve the rest in a jug with the lime slices and mint.

Gin-less Grapefruit Sour 🍊

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 grapefruit
  • 50ml non-alcoholic gin
  • 1/2 lemon (juiced)
  • 2 tbsp simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • A handful of ice

Method:

  1. Put all the ingredients except the ice into a shaker or a large jam jar with a good seal and shake well.
  2. Add a handful of ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds or until the sides feel cold. 
  3. Strain into tumblers with ice or wine glasses (no ice). Serve with a slice of grapefruit.

The Summer Cup 🥒

Ingredients:

  • Cucumber
  • A few mint leaves
  • Frozen red berries
  • 120ml lemonade
  • ice

Method:

  • Chop the cucumber and mint into small pieces. 
  • Bring 200ml of water to the boil in a small pan and add the mint and cucumber.
  • Turn off the heat and leave for 2 mins.
  • Add a small handful of frozen berries (let them defrost for a minute), then crush them lightly with the back of a spoon.
  • Strain the mixture. You can keep this in the fridge for up to 24 hours, and it will make enough for four drinks.
  • Pour 40ml of your strained mixture into a tall glass. Add a handful of ice and top up with 120ml lemonade.
  • Garnish with chopped fruit and mint leaves. Stir gently to combine!
