Getting support with your studies

Posted 1 week ago

Exam season is a stressful time for everybody...

... But no matter what, you must remember to look after yourself and not be afraid to seek help if you need it.

Whether you're finding it challenging to manage your workload or just need some academic advice, there are plenty of support services at Leicester to help you.

Your personal tutor

Your personal tutor can provide help and advice about your studies by discussing your study skills, helping you to understand assignment feedback, turning it into actionable goals, and helping you find additional resources such as books and articles.

Students' Union Advice Service

On hand to help with a range of academic issues, the Advice Service can advise or signpost you to further guidance. You can book an appointment with them or pop in during their opening hours.

Library

There is a range of services available via the library. You can ask them a question to find specific help by filling out this Information Hub form or emailing the team at library@le.ac.uk

Each school is also directly supported by a Librarian, so you can get course-specific support for help finding information, literature searching, using subject databases, referencing and more – simply email them at librarians@le.ac.uk

There is also the Centre for Academic Achievement based on the ground floor of the David Wilson Library, where you can develop your study skills. Book onto one of their workshops or drop them an email at achieve@leicester.ac.uk

Your peer mentor

If you are in your first year, you will have been allocated a peer mentor (unless you have opted out) who can listen to your concerns and provide informal support.

English Language Teaching Unit

The English Language Teaching Unit offers free English language support courses and classes if you are a current international student and want to improve your English. They also offer programmes on academic skills and exam preparation.
