Shamrock Shenanigans

Leicester is basically turning into one big Irish party. this year. If you're looking to dodge your assignments and grab a Guinness, here's the lineup:

 The Parade ☘️

On Sunday 15th March, the big parade starts at 11:45 am at Holy Cross Priory Church and hits the centre around lunchtime. Leicester comes alive in a sea of green to celebrate the Patron of Ireland, where everyone is welcome to join with friends and family.

Pro tips for the parade:

  • Get there early: If you want a good view (or a spot in the pub later), aim to be in the city centre by 11:30 am - it can get busy quickly!
  • Wear green: It might seem obvious, but honestly, you'll feel weird if you don't. If you and your mates want to go 'all-out', a lot of people wear hats and face paint.

Where to drink (and actually find a seat) 🍺

  • O'Neills: They're doing a whole "St.Pat's Week" from 10th-17th March. If you get their app, you can also score £3 Guinness pints! They'll be showing the Cheltenham Races and Six Nations - so don't worry, you won't be missing it.
  • Duffy's Bar & Firebug: The go-to spots for live Irish music. Most of the sessions over parade weekend are free entry, so it's a good option on a student budget.
  • Walkabout: If you want to go hard earlier on, they're doing a "Boozy Brunch" with 90 minutes of bottomless Guinness and Wings - name a better way to spend St Paddy's weekend.
