Originally called Villiers Hall, John Foster Hall is made up of a range of accommodations, all with their own distinctive character. Although it's the largest hall of residence by the number of bedrooms, John Foster still has a close knit community.
You’ll find yourself moving amongst the Pavilions to find that sweet spot of sun or weaving through The Coppice’s maze-like hallways to explore everyone’s flats.
Location
John Foster Hall is ideal for those who want to be close to all essential facilities in The Village, being particularly close to the Village reception where you can get your post and there's even a cash machine.
Within a short walk from each property you can find the Village Hub, Roger Bettles Sports Centre and the bus stop so you can get to campus hassle-free (and in just 20 minutes). It's also close to the university sports ground, Oadby town centre and the university Botanic Garden and Attenborough Arboretum. So you won't struggle to find things to do around here.
Ashcroft House
Ashcroft has a variety of different room types so you can either choose to share more space with others or prioritise your privacy, including:
- Single bedrooms – you'll share bathroom and shower facilities as well as a kitchen.
- Single en-suites – you'll share a kitchen.
- Single studio flats – you'll have your own bathroom and kitchen.
A kitchen is usually shared between around 11 people, with a bathroom usually shared between 2 people.

John Foster Houses
Made up of three different houses – Howard House, Spinneys House and Treroose House – there are a variety of different room types available:

One bathroom tends to be shared between 5 people, whilst the kitchen will be shared between around 10.

The Coppice
If you're wanting value for money in The Village, this is the place to be. Being located on Manor Road, it's incredibly easy to get to the bus stop for travelling onto campus or into the city centre. And whether you're a social butterfly or prefer me-time, there should be a room type to suit you:
- Single bedroom with washbasin
- Single en-suite (small, standard and large)
- Single studio flat (standard and large)
- One bedroom flat
A bathroom is normally shared between 4 people, except in en-suite rooms and studios, and shared kitchens are used by around 6 people.
